Barge-in

A user interrupting the system mid-response, with the system stopping to listen.

Barge-in lets a person cut across a digital human while it is speaking, as they would with another person. Supporting it requires the system to keep listening during playback and to halt its own speech cleanly. It is a key marker of natural conversational behaviour.
