Latency
The delay between a user's input and the system's visible or audible response.
In conversational systems latency is the accumulated delay across speech recognition, language generation, speech synthesis, rendering and network transport. Humans notice conversational delay quickly, so low end-to-end latency is a primary engineering goal. It is usually quoted in milliseconds from end of user speech to start of avatar response.
