Turn Detection
Deciding when a speaker has finished so the system can reply.
Turn detection determines the boundary between the user's turn and the system's turn in a spoken conversation. Simple approaches wait for a fixed silence threshold; more advanced ones use semantic and prosodic cues to predict completion. Getting it wrong causes the system either to interrupt or to feel sluggish.
