AppDirect Inc. announced on 28 September 2026 that it has acquired Soul Machines Ltd., an AI avatar provider, to expand its ability to deploy interactive experiences for sales, advisers, support and services. SiliconANGLE's report gives no purchase price or deal terms.

AppDirect, which runs a cloud-based business commerce platform and marketplace, said it plans to add Soul Machines' avatars, described as digital humans that "see, listen, react and remember interactions," to apps on its platform for customer support, self-service, learning and development, training, employee help desks and digital commerce assistance. The avatars will also soon be available in apps built on Devs.ai, AppDirect's enterprise vibe-coding platform. AppDirect Chairman and CEO Nicolas Desmarais said the acquisition moves the company toward making AI more useful and accessible for businesses.

Why it matters for digital humans: A commerce platform is buying an avatar vendor to give its catalogue of business apps a face, rather than the avatar company selling direct. The report gives no price, roadmap or support commitments, so anyone relying on Soul Machines should ask AppDirect directly about continuity and which parts of the technology will carry forward.
